New Firmware For E71 v110.07.127

(3 posts)
  1. There is a new firmware version available for the Nokia E71, v110.07.127. This update includes a newer version of Mail for Exchange, as well as an update to Nokia Maps. The camera has received some attention, and the browser and Bluetooth should be more stable, as well.

The firmware update is available through Nokia Software Updater, a Windows-only desktop application. You can download the latest version of NSU here.

After the update I cannot connect to the internet. "Connection not available". That goes for WLAN connection too. Nokia care line also unable to assist. They recommend I take the phone to a Nokia Repair Centre.

Requested network settings from my SP. The sms they send you which you are supposed to "Save" is now in an "Unsupported Format" after the update.

My SP informs me that it is a Firmware Network problem as my E71 is unable to recognize G3 networks and therefore cannot connect to the internet. No MMS either.

Ok, after 3 days I finally sorted out the connection problem on my E71.

I reinstalled the new firmware (110.07.127). Ran Sett.wizard, selecting MMS, Internet and Wap. This will automatically install the correct settings from your SP to your phone. The phone is now connecting to the internet.

NB. DO NOT restore phone contents from the backup file to your phone using Nokia PC Suite. It seems that the phone settings in the backup file is not compatible with the new firmware. If you do, you will have the dreaded "Connection not available" again.

Instead of wasting your time looking for a "fix" on the internet, spend the time to reinstall all your applications and setup your phone like it used to be, without making use of the restore file.
