Another great video from CTIA, which took place last week in Las Vegas, with David Petts, VP and GM of AT&T, chatting about the Nokia E71x. Aside from mentioning the stunning good looks and the super-slim design, David talks about the features inside as what really makes the handset.

Most of you are probably rather disappointed with the gaming on your Nokia E71. Since it’s not supported by N-Gage, and the landscape screen orientation makes finding good java games slightly difficult, I thought you’d be rather excited to find out that Quake is now available for your Nokia E71!
That’s right, the age-old classic indeed runs on the Nokia E71, as you can see in this video below.
To install, you can follow the directions found here.
Over at the aptly named TheNokiaBlog, Mark has taken his review E71 out on the mean streets of New York City on Apple day to see what the folks in line at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue are up to.
As you can see, the video quality is decent, definitely up there against the other QWERTY enabled smartphones on the market. At 640×480 resolution, but only 15 frames per second, the E71’s video looks great on YouTube, and you can upload directly to Share on Ovi or Flickr straight from the phone, which is definitely handy!
At some point, it’s going to be my turn to unbox this bad boy, but in the meantime, here’s another great little unboxing video from a guy named Trent. This is by far the most comprehensive unboxing that I’ve seen, complete with on-screen labels to tell you about the various items included in the box.
Trent gives a much more detailed look at the little leather sleeve included in the package, and I have to say, I really like the look of it. I do wish it had a belt clip or some other function, aside from simply protecting the handset, but I can’t really knock it too hard.
I’m looking forward to getting my own grey US 3G E71 in the next few weeks, so you’ll certainly want to stay tuned as I promise to do a series of in-depth videos looking at it.
Monadi at Phone-Rush has recently taken his Nokia E71 along with him for a weekend at Big Bear Lake, California. Normally, I wouldn’t think of taking a high-end handset such as the E71 into the great outdoors, but it seems to have done ok.
There are two videos showing off the lower-quality, but still acceptable video capture of the E71 (as compared to something like the N95). Personally, I think they’re OK, given the current recording capabilities of most business-minded smartphones. Not many businesspeople are out recording big videos with their smartphones, so the lower framerate doesn’t bother me at all. Here’s one of the videos:
Also, there are a handful of photos taken with the cell phone’s 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, and I think they turned out rather well. The far-off details seem to blend together, but mid-range to upclose turn out really well. You can flip through his photostream on Flickr here.
While we obviously prefer the E71 here at E71blog.com, I’m sure you know that there are numerous competitors out there that offer a similar experience with a full smartphone operating system and comparable camera features. One such device is the recently announced HTC Touch Diamond, a slick black handset rocking Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
The E71’s lack of touchscreen may or may not be a winner for you, but it’s interesting to see it held up side by side with this sexy beast from the WinMo side of life.
Here’s the video:
