Matthew Miller at Nokia Experts has been tipped with a handful of user guides for the Nokia E71x, one of which lists May 4th as the launch date. While our tipster is dead-set on May 7th, it seems clear, at least, that it will be the first week of May, which is OK with me.
The user guides available, all as PDFs, include the Datasheet, Getting Started Guide, User Guide, FAQs, Tips and Tricks, and the Job Aid, which is used to help AT&T employees not sound like idiots when talking about the phone. Pricing is still confirmed at $99 with a 2-year commitment and mail-in rebate, or you can just head over to Amazon to get it without contract or branding for $320.

Important difference to note though:
Nokia E71x AT&T version comes with Feature Pack 2 (FP2)
Nokia E71 US 3G version at Amazon or any other retailer contains FP1
What does it mean for you? The E71x will noticeably be smoother and more efficient and will be more compatible with applications from Nokia. There are already a significant number of Apps out there which are only for FP2-enabled phones since the newer feature pack provides additional enhancements for programs to leverage.
That is a difference, but don’t forget that the AT&T version will be slowed down by the massive amount of bloatware that AT&T loads on these things.
FP2 isn’t always smoother or more efficient, either.
Do i wait for the black e71x or just buy the unlocked one now? i don’t think i can wait ANY longer…palm pre is on its way, might just stick with sprint. great job on the delay at&t+nokia
