So, the more recent E71 firmwares made hacking a chore, which is frustrating. However, there is another option – just get a certificate for your phone. Personally, I think this option is a bit better, since it maintains the security that Symbian Signed was designed to offer, but eliminates the headache, since you get to control what is installed. However, you’ll need to request a certificate for your specific phone’s IMEI. Here’s how:
First up, you need to create an account at OPDA.cn, which you can do here. The Nokia Blog put together this easy-t0-read screenshot to help you figure out what all the Chinese means:
After that, click here to request your certificate. In the first box, you enter your IMEI. You can find this by pressing *#06# on your phone. The second box needs to be a random 11-digit number that starts with 13, 15, or 18. Try 18649825783. Click the button at the end, and then you need to wait for them to generate your certificate. This can take anywhere from 10 to 24 hours. You can check on this page here. When both the .cer and the .key are available, download them both to your computer.
You now need to get SignSis, which is an application that makes it really easy to sign your applications. Simply enter your IMEI in the first field, and locate the .cer and .key files in the next fields. The Key number can remain 012345. There are a few user settings, and then you simply specify the unsigned application on your computer and click “Sign Sis!” It’s just that easy.
You can use this to sign MagicKey for your E71, which I covered previously. I’ll also be covering a few more unsigned applications, now that we have an easy and firmware-proof way to get them installed.

Took me about 23 hours to get cer/key.
The cer/ley link was pretty hard to find so use Nokia Blog link and it shows you where they are.
I received my cer/key after about 23hours. I proceeded with the instructions and everything seems to work like a charm. Thanks for sharing I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find a working method in signing applications.
Great work!
Requested my .cer and .key file’s last night.
this morning they were ready and waiting for me to download.
Finally i can install unsigned apps on my E71.
TY very much.
I used it to sign an app and it worked like a charm

I tried registering, but I keep on getting a response saying (after translating with babelfish): “You input the confirmation code is not correct, is unable to submit, please return revises.”
I cannot seem to create an account… anyone figured out how to get beyond this? All the fields on the registration page had check marks next to them so I am pretty sure I entered the fields correctly. Also tried using IE and Chrome browsers…
Excellent post! Everything worked fine!
I’ve registered and it seems like I have cer/key links (far right side of page) ready for me to download but when I click on them, they load forever and never resolve. It’s been about 15 hours since I registered. Anyone else having issues?

Do I receive a email? Still doesn’t work for me.. been 24 hours.
I can’t get past the first step. When I try to create an account at OPDA.cn, the link above takes me to a register page that looks very different to the one shown above. There are no empty tabs to input any of the information and when I hover over all the chinese characters on the page none of them are links that expand etc. I’ve tried this in firefox and IE. Any ideas???
nvm. For those experiencing similar problems, you have to scroll right to the bottom of the page that link takes you to and click on the left hand set of chinese characters “I agree” I guess. Then it takes you to the page shown above…
For me… i got the 2 files… but somehow.. when i tried to install a theme that i have downloaded.. the phone prompts me that certificate expires… is this normal?
“The second box needs to be a random 11-digit number that starts with 13, 15, or 18. Try 18649825783″
I tried 18649825783 two times making a 2nd account then made my own 13 plus 9 random # and it worked. Maybe 18649825783 has been used too many times. Now waiting for the two certificate #’s

[...] You can download Free iSMS 1.03 from Nokia Addict but please be aware that this app is unsigned. Just a bit of info that might
help others.. When I registered
in the forum site i.e.opda.cn and
using the same credentials
registered, it doesn’t work.
So i tried registering again in the
cer.opda.cn site (new id though)
and it worked.. It does say in cer.
opda.cn that if u register u get
access to forum site too. But
doesn’t work in the other way.
Heyy, the register page is now different and a certificate request doesnt work. UPDATE PLEASE!!
Hey, so i registered but when i click to request a certificate it just says undefined operation, go back. Im not sure what to do from this point kinda lost:S….if anyone could help me out thatd be appreciated
Thank you for the instructions. Interestingly, it would not work when I input my IMEI, I got an error message. But when I did it without the IMEI, it worked perfectly (mistakes lead to results–sometimes!) Running well and think I’m in love! Thanks again!
