The gang at Engadget Mobile have been tipped off that a major retailer (probably Best Buy) will be getting a handful of new phones – with the E71 Charcoal for AT&T among them! Previously believed to be called the E71x, the E71 Charcoal for AT&T sports that sexy all black color scheme that I told you about earlier.
We’ve also discovered previously that the E71 will come to AT&T sporting the new S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, which brings a number of improvements, most notably access point prioritization, like we have with SmartConnect. There’s also a handful of other niceties included in Feature Pack 2.
There’s no word on pricing, unfortunately.

I have a question here. Does installing Fp2 on the E71 require a hardware upgrade or can it be installed on the Fp1 E71s too?
Provided we get our hands on the firmware.

E71 (with Fp1)
It would be great if FP1 E71s could be ‘upgraded’ to FP2. The hardware is the same, so no hardware upgrade would be necessary.
I don’t think Nokia will release an FP2 firmware upgrade for FP1 devices though (although I would love to see it).
I think it is complete BS! Why give a carrier the same phone with newer/better software and leave all the loyal Nokia customers that purchased the E71 behind!?
It’s the same damn phone! Give us FP2 Nokia!!!
