After all, Nokia is the company that walked away from the biggest cell phone market on Earth.

Me:

On the contrary - Nokia is actually the number 1 manufacturer in China (and India, too, which isn't far behind).

I don't get Nokias update policy. I live in Europe (Germany), I bought a free (not branded) model by amazon and still I got the first update with over 2 months delay and as the second update is not available right now I think I know what this means...

Anyway, great to see that Nokia at least works on the E71. Some of the improvements sound quite nice.

p said:
Great!. I am hopeful the NAM version of this update fixes a lot of the irritating bugs in my e71-2

Me:
Keep dreaming. They are yet to release the previous relatively minor update for the NAM phones. We are probably in for a 6+ month wait. Idiotic? By all means. Fact of life? Certainly, get used to it. After all, Nokia is the company that walked away from the biggest cell phone market on Earth.

Tip: when doing the final backup using Content Copier, check that it can restore Contacts, Notes, Calendar, etc.

My E71 hangs when using Content Copier if the "Settings" option is ticked. This results in a backup file that won't restore Contacts, Calendar, Notes even though they are in the file (as seen by the Noki backup explorer program).
